FAQs

How will the optician help?

Our experienced board-certified opticians are skilled at guiding you through the frame selection process. Great fitting glasses are flattering and comfortable!  Our opticians are experts at styling you in the perfect frame for your facial features, shape, and coloring, as well as the lens requirements of your prescription.

Can I try frames on in store?

Of course! It’s so much fun! Our showroom has some of the most unique, exclusive frame collections available. Our frame buyer searches high and low to provide our fashion-seeking community with a wide array of choices for every style and budget. Once again, we stress that trying on a frame before purchasing it and having the advice of a professional is the best way to ensure you are happy with your choice.

What is my “PD”? Why are proper measurements so important when making my glasses?

“PD” is an abbreviation for Pupillary Distance. This is a measurement that should be taken by a skilled optician with the correct measuring tools and is only one of the measurements that is required to make your new eyeglasses accurately.  The most precise way to take measurements for your new glasses is with the actual frame you have selected on your face, and using the proper tools.

Are eyeglasses covered by my insurance?

There are some insurance plans that have an eyewear benefit. The best way to find out if yours does is by calling your insurance!  We do accept Vision Service Plan (VSP), as well as submit to many union insurance plans and Medicaid plans.

What if my prescription feels off?

We have an Accurate Prescription Guarantee. Getting your glasses at Rivertown Eye Care is the only way to guarantee that you get the best and most accurate prescription that our doctor found in your exam.  There is no guarantee that your glasses will match the doctor’s prescription if they are not purchased from us. Our doctors and opticians will collaborate on solving all of your vision needs. We guarantee that your lenses will be precision crafted and as personalized as your own fingerprint.

Can I wear my new glasses home?

Because we ensure that your lenses will be precision crafted and made of the most state-of-the-art materials and finishes, your order for new glasses will take approximately 7-10 business days to process.

What if I don't like my new glasses?

We want you to love your new glasses, which is why we have a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. If for any reason your new frame or lenses do not meet your satisfaction, please let us know! Call our opticians for an appointment to discuss what is not meeting your satisfaction so that we can help. The whole reason we are here is to ensure you are looking, feeling, and seeing your absolute best in your new eyewear!

Do you have a warranty on glasses?

Yes, we provide a one-time replacement of your frame and lenses, valid for one year from the date of purchase. Lens replacement covers scratches and/or defects in lenses, non-glare treatment, and/or scratch coating. Frame replacement covers manufacturers defects. It does not cover loss or abuse, and there is no warranty on safety glasses or non-rx sunglasses.

EX3+

Proven to be the most durable anti-reflective treatment. This makes your lenses scratch-resistant with water-, dirt- and dust-repellent properties. It is also unique by including a UV treatment to the backside of the lens, not just on the front as most other lens treatments. This will provide the most protection from harmful UV rays that is currently available in a clear lens.

Recharge EX3

Blue light is a natural phenomenon present in daylight and known as high-energy visible light when emitted by the screens of our smartphones, tablets, computers and televisions. Extended exposure can lead to eye strain, eye fatigue and even sleeplessness. With Recharge you will get  blue light protection to ensure relaxed vision, as well as better ocular health with the same scratch resistance and water-, dirt- and dust repellent properties of our EX3+.

Binocular Harmonization

Binocular Harmonization Technology (BHT) is offered in many of our Premium Progressive lenses. It takes into account the differences between the right eye and left eye prescriptions to balance the visual experience. This provides more effortless focusing capabilities, constant stability, and excellent depth of vision.

Dual Surface Optics

We offer patented Dual Surface technology, which shapes the lens on both the front and the back surfaces of our Progressive lenses. This results in more comfortable transitions between near and far distances, wider viewing zones, and dramatically reduces blur in peripheral vision.

Digital Eye Strain

We live in a world filled with digital devices. While we love the convenience and connection, too much time looking at screens can result in eye strain, headaches, and even migraines. Having the right lenses can be a life-changing difference between suffering and relief!

• Are you on a device several hours a day but also in meetings? We have a lens for you!

• Are you on multiple screens for the entire day? We have a lens for you!

• Do you work on very detailed projects up close? We also have a lens for you!

All of these customized digital lens options can also include Blue Light filtration for reduced eye strain and fatigue.

Polarized Lenses

Enjoy your time outdoors and on the water. Polarized lenses reduce blinding reflections, glare, and visual discomfort. They enhance contrast and offer supreme visual performance, comfort and protection.

Photochromic Lenses

Light-reactive lenses that change from dark to clear– a very convenient option! Our lab offers cutting-edge options. The “Fast” option addresses the age-old objection of slow fade-back speed. The “Extra Dark” option provides lens darkening, even behind the car windshield. The “Mirrored” option offers extra style and extra darkness when outdoors.

Mirror & Light Mirror

You can express your personality and style with mirrored lenses in our wide array of color options. Mirrors also reduce eye discomfort and protect against the sun’s harmful UV rays by reflecting light away from the surface of the lens.

Hi-Index

Used for higher prescriptions, this material creates a thinner and lighter lens.

Even if your vision requires more prescription, that doesn't mean your glasses should be heavy and uncomfortable!

Trivex

Our recommended material for most low to moderate prescriptions. It surpasses the more commonly used Polycarbonate material by offering superior optical clarity and the most scratch resistance offered in today’s lenses while still being impact resistant and lightweight.

Digital Single-Vision Lenses

Conventional single-vision lenses correct vision only in the central part of the lens. Since our eyes move and gaze in all directions, we need lenses that provide clear vision through the entire surface of our lenses, not just straight through the central area.

The solution is a digital free-form single-vision lens that eliminates peripheral vision distortions and offers 360-degree visual comfort and clarity. Our opticians will take additional personalized measurements for our lab to customize your lenses for your best visual acuity.
